Short story of El Faro´s history

About 50 years ago, Ginés López Montoya and family set up a small restaurant and tapas bar for their neighbours and local fishermen who wove their nets on the esplanade just in front of the restaurant.

Their tasty Mediterranean dishes quickly became popular with Ibicencos and the restaurant´s patrons became more diverse with the arrival of the first hippies and tourists. When Mr. Montoya retired and returned to his native region of Levante some 30 years ago, Miguel and Merche took over that beautiful and typical fisherman´s corner at the end of Ibiza´s harbour.

Gradually introducing dishes from many regions of Spain and complementing the restaurant´s simple and rich heritage has made it what it is today. A cozy, romantic and well-reputed restaurant serving traditional Spanish and Euromediterranean cuisine.

El Faro, with its wonderful terrace and lush garden where people of all ages can savour a pleasant experience, is also patronised by royal families and many famous athletes, artists and politicians. It is truly a place to see and be seen.

We have never forgotten our beginnings nor our principles: fresh and natural products, good service and continued dedication.
